Pamida, Inc., has announced plans for the conversion of Place’s stores to Pamida stores, following the completion of the Place’s acquisition announced in May.
Pamida completed the acquisition June 29, and the conversion will begin immediately in 48 of the 49 Place’s stores. The Place’s store in Trenton, where a Pamida store currently operates, closed on June 30.
Storewide inventory liquidation sales are underway in 48 Place’s stores, including the store in Gallatin. In mid-August, when the inventory liquidation is complete, the stores will close and store employees will assist in the remodeling and remerchandising process.
“Everything will change except the friendly, helpful employees who have been working in these stores. Place’s employees are now Pamida teammates who will lead the way in creating a fresh new store for our customers,” said Pamida president Michael Hopkins.
The stores are expected to re-open as Pamida stores in late September or early October.
“When we re-open, customers in our newest Pamida communities will like what they see. We ask for their patience while we roll up our sleeves to bring them this exciting new store,” Hopkins said.
Pamida is a subsidiary of ShopKo Stores, Inc., a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Green Bay, Wis., operating 327 retail stores in 22 states, primarily in the Midwest, Western Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions.
Pamida operations, headquartered in Omaha, Neb., include 165 discount stores located in rural communities. There are 162 specialty discount stores operating under the ShopKo name in mid- sized and larger cities.
