Funeral services for Jerry Stewart were held Monday, July 3, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Gallatin. Arrangements were by Bram Funeral Home, Gallatin. Burial was at Centenary Cemetery, Gallatin. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Jerry Richard Stewart, 54, Gallatin, died June 30, 2000, of a sudden heart attack while fishing in a farm pond west of Gallatin.

Mr. Stewart was born and raised in Bellaire, Ohio. He graduated from the Shadyside, Ohio, High School in 1964. He received a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business from Ohio University. He had lived in Daviess County for most of his life.

Mr. Stewart was a sale/marketing manager for Landmark Corporation of Gallatin for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Gallatin United Methodist Church, where he served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and formerly taught Sunday School; the Gallatin High School Chain Gang; and the National Riflemen Association. He was a volunteer instructor for the Missouri Department of Conservation Hunter Education and was Chairman of the American Cancer Society Golf Tournament of Gallatin. He was a former member of the Gallatin Lions Club and the Gallatin School Board.

On June 23, 1968, he married Bonnie Jewell Thompson at the Shadyside, Ohio, Methodist Church. She survives of the home.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his father, Alva W. Stewart, and one sister, Sara Lee Berger.

Other survivors include three daughters, Melissa Elizabeth Miller, Memphis, Melinda Lea Huffman, Warsaw, and Jeri Lynne Strathman, Alma; his mother, Sarah Elizabeth Stewart, Gallatin; one sister, Vivian Ambler, Bowie, Md.; two brothers, Alva Wise Stewart, Jr., Stuart, Fla., and Ronald Charles Stewart, Wildwood; and six grandchildren.
