Mark your calendar to attend the Daviess County Fair slated for July 13-15 at Dockery Park in Gallatin. The fun will soon be awaitin’!
Fair activities start with the swine show at 6 p.m. on Thursday with a greased pig contest commencing about 8 p.m. Superintendents for this year’s swine show are David Rains and Bob Harlow.
Friday’s events start with a lead line at 9 a.m. with the sheep show to follow. Ron Alden serves as the sheep show superintendent. At 2 p.m. the fair’s horse show begins. Several different saddle classes have been added to this year’s show, supervised by Bob and Clint Bird.
Gallatin Men’s Club hosts a Junior Rodeo commencing at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The rodeo promises to again be a top attraction during the 3-day fair.
Tables will be set for a whole hog barbecue beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The Beef Show commences at 7 p.m., supervised by Aaron Ishmael, Mike Henderson and Frank Dunnington. A pee-wee beef show is slated for 8 p.m.
A dunking booth will operate throughout all events over the three days. Recruitment is underway now to put local businessmen in the wet seat. Cook shack items will be for sale throughout the fair, provided by fair board members with John Sullenger in the lead.
