State Senator Sam Graves has officially entered the race for Missouri’s 6th Congressional District vacated by Congresswoman Pat Danner.

“This is indeed the Show-Me-State,” says Graves. “Congressional seats are not inherited; the next Congressman for the 6th District will have to earn it. I look forward to the opportunity over the next few months to discuss the issues of this region, and I am convinced that through the course of this campaign I will earn the trust and the votes of the people of the 6th Congressional District.”

Re-elected in 1998 with 63 percent of the popular vote, Senator Sam Graves is currently serving his second four-year term as the 12 District State Senator. Graves represents 16 of the 26 counties that make up the 6th Congressional District, including Daviess County. Prior to being elected State Senator, Sam Graves also served two years in Missouri’s House of Representatives.

Sam and his wife, Lesley, daughters, Megan and Emily, and son, Sam III, live in Tarkio. He operates a sixth generation farm and Lesley teaches kindergarten at Tarkio R-1 School District.
