On April 13 the Pattonsburg FFA Chapter left for Columbia to attend the State FFA meeting. The Chapter chose two delegates, Brandon Anderson and Bradley Nalle, to vote on upcoming issues for state rules. Gina Burns participated in the State FFA Choir. As first chair soprano, Gina practiced all day Thursday and Friday and performed Friday night at the final session of the state meeting. Leslie Mason was awarded a Chapter Proficiency in Beef Placement.
Contest teams were honored at the 1999-2000 FFA Banquet. The Ag. Mech. team of Brandon Anderson, Brad Nalle, Tyler Mason and Dustin Sperry placed 25th at Districts. In the Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Gina burns, Kyle Mason, Nena Woodward and Aaron deJong placed 14th, which made them the alternates for State contest. Leslie Mason, Nena Woodward, Kirt Hangley and Brennan Leeper placed 11th in Livestock at Districts. Our Field Crops team of Wyatt Sperry, Alex Sperry, Caleb Jeffries and Dustin Sperry placed 18th at Districts.
Ronnie Cornett attended our Banquet and awarded Alex Sperry with the Bethany Trust Company Scholarship Award. He also received his Greenhand Degree and won the Star Greenhand award plus a bronze medal for Creed Speaking. Brennan Leeper won the Chapter Degree Award for 2000.
Overall this year has come along really well in the Ag Department. Many students, parents, and teachers have helped throughout the progress of finishing the new ag building. To start off next year’s school year, the FFA Chapter plans to have two summer meetings. The first meeting will be June 13 and the second will be sometime in July or August.
For the second summer meeting the Chapter plans to go to Lake Viking and have the meeting there, inviting all students in grades 9-12 who would like to attend. Invitations will be sent in the mail during the summer. Those who would like to be invited should speak with Brandon Anderson or Tyler Mason.
The new 2000-2001 FFA Officers are Tyler Mason, president; Wyatt Sperry, vice president; Brandon Anderson, secretary; Caleb Jeffries, treasurer; Gina Burns, reporter; and Bradley Nalle, sentinel.
