Brian Youtsey, a junior at Gallatin R-5 High School, has been selected to attend Missouri Quail Academy, a hands-on conservation training program. Brian is one of 25 students who will undergo extensive training in quail biology, ecology, and the human dimensions of wildlife conservation.
Instruction will also be provided in leadership, public speaking, and critical thinking. Cadets will learn to write news releases, present educational programs, and communicate the conservation message on radio and television.
The Academy takes place at Midway Farms, a private hunting and sporting clays preserve 20 miles northwest of Columbia. No fees are charged for this program. Food, lodging, and transportation are provided.[Staff Photo/TLH]
