Bids for a limited number of headstones and monuments at Brown and Greenwood Cemeteries.
The Gallatin Board of Aldermen decided to advertise and accept bids to reset a limited number of headstones and monuments at Brown and Greenwood Cemeteries during their regular meeting held May 9, 2000, at City Hall.
In other business at Tuesday’s meeting, Superintendent of Utilities Roger Loxterman provided a report on a number of topics, including the completion of the electric distribution project along two streets, the removal of electric poles, peak load generation, street repairs, the swimming pol, and department staffing.
Chief of Police James Wycoff introduced Officer Bob Guffey to the board. Officer Guffey began duties on April 28, 2000.
Chief Wycoff provided an update on nuisance property abatements, progress toward filling the officer grant position, and weapons training and transition.
Bills in the amount of $53,742.68 were approved for payment.
A bill amending the Gallatin city code addressing bonds of city officers and employees received first and second readings before passage.
After discussion, the board tabled an ordinance imposing a city sales tax for capital improvements in Gallatin, and providing for the submission of such ordinance to a vote of the qualified voters of the city.
City Administrator Jason Helton gave an update on the status of the re-financing through the Missouri Association of Municipal Utilities.
A request for qualification for a project engineer on the proposed sanitary sewer project has been issued and is due May 18, 2000.
Discussion took place on the road at the Business park. Load limits will be restricted rather than closing the road.
City Hall will be closed Thursday, May 18, 2000, so that the clerks can attend training sessions.
During comments by aldermen, Norma Griffin congratulated Deputy City Clerks Zellla Barnes and Candy Hughes on their recognition during Municipal Clerks Week, April 30-May 6.
Shonna Morrison expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the volunteers who participated in the city-wide litter clean-up on Saturday, May 6.
Robert Snidow inquired about zoning regulations dealing with mobile homes.
Mayor Davis asked that city ordinances and zoning regulations be reviewed regarding junkyards and the appearance of abandoned vehicles at auto repair businesses.

Davis, aldermen Bob Snidow, Norma Griffin (arrived at 7:10 p.m.) and Shonna Morrison, City Administrator Jason Helton. Alderman Larry Barnes was absent. Guests in attendance were Steven Reid, Lisa Reid and Chris Craig.
