Bob Guffey was officially sworn in as a full time officer for the Gallatin Police Department on April 28.

Officer Guffey is a retired detective of the Kansas City Police Department, where he worked for 27 years until his retirement in 1997. He was on the Homicide/Major-Metro Case Squad and the Police Shooting Team. Officer Guffey earned a degree from Avila College in Public Administration and an emphasis in criminal justice. He graduated from the Kansas City Police Academy in 1971.

He and his wife of 25 years, Helen, have two children, Angella, who works for the government, and Robert “Bobby” Junior, who is in college majoring in criminal justice.

Officer Guffey has lived on a farm in Caldwell County for the past three years. His grandparents are from this area. [Staff Photo/TLH]
