Students at Gilman City High School had yet another career education opportunity last week. One half of the sophomore class took advantage of an opportunity to step out of the class room and attend a career fair on the Graceland College campus. This experience was made possible through the efforts of “Educational Talent Search” which is headquartered at Graceland. Students were able to participate in seven 20-minute round table discussions with area business persons.
After enjoying the complimentary lunch, students were given a tour of the Graceland campus and its facilities. All the students were able to gain some good information about career opportunities, but Nan Edwards and Hollie Gibson also came home with new Graceland T-shirts that they won in a drawing.
The very next day more students from Gilman were on the road again as the juniors and seniors attended the North Central Missouri College career fair. More than 40 area employers and post-secondary educational institutions had booths set up with representatives available to visit with the students about career opportunities and educational needs. A half-hour panel discussion with four area employers was also available to the students. NCMC also provided a complimentary lunch along with this very important service to the students of this area.
