Gallatin’s defending state champion golf team continues to roll. The Bulldogs captured 3 competitions in the past week, including a successful defense of their Sedalia Sacred Heart Classic on Monday. Individual honors and impressive scores continue to fall to the Bulldogs, as well.

Gallatin won the Sacred Heart Classic for the 3rd straight year with a new meet record of 305 for a 4-player total. The score, registered by Scott Crose, Brice Garnett, Joey Evans and Chad Sullenger, also set a new GHS record for low score by a quartet. Crose led all Bulldogs with a 4-over par 74 that, after a playoff, was good enough to earn the medalist award. Garnett’s round of 75 placed him 3rd in the individual race. Evans and Sullenger tied for 6th place with identical 78s. Jacob Humphrey added an 81 that was good enough for 11th place overall.

Gallatin’s team score of 305 bested nearest competitors Versailles (327), Warsaw and Ashland (330 each).

The Bulldogs matched their school record performance of March 30 on Tuesday by defeating South Harrison and Princeton in action at Daviess County Country Club. Gallatin’s team score of 144 tied the GHS mark and Humphrey’s one under par 34 earned yet another medalist award for the Bulldogs. Garnett closed with a 36. Crose and Evans added scores of 37 and Sullenger finished with a 39.

The Bulldogs were also kings of the Plattsburg Country Club last Thursday during a modified tournament format that featured 14 teams. Crose (79) finished out in front of Cameron’s Drew Hatten (81) and Trenton’s Chad Richman (83) for the medalist honor. Garnett and Humphrey teamed up for Gallatin to win the best ball competition with a round of 77. Evans and Sullenger finished 3rd in the best shot competition with a 74 following a 3-team, scorecard playoff.

With a 230 team total, Gallatin snatched the event’s team title from Cameron (235) and Trenton (240).

The Bulldogs look for more golf success at Trenton on Thursday and at Daviess County Country Club next Monday against Maysville and Pattonsburg.
