Gallatin City Administrator Jason Helton was elected treasurer of Green Hills Regional Planning Commission during the 33rd annual meeting of the organization on April 13 at Grand River Inn, Chillicothe. Eva Danner, presiding commissioner of Livingston County, was re-elected chairman.
Two awards were presented at the meeting. Former Princeton mayor Wayne Hoover was given the Bill Hoyt Local Government Service Award, and Charles Friesz, branch manager for Bank Northwest of Bethany, received the Green Hills Economic Development Award.
The Green Hills Regional Planning Commission is one of approximately 550 sub-state regional planning and development organizations serving both metropolitan and rural areas throughout the United States. GHRPC serves 11 counties: Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Daviess, Grundy, Harrison, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Putnam and Sullivan.
The commission carries out a multi-faceted work program including extensive work in the areas of economic development, community water and sewer projects, housing project administration, employment training activities, solid waste management planning and recycling education, local government technical assistance and mapping and business financing.
