Gallatin R-5 band members competed at District Music Contest at Maryville on April 1, 2000. Students receiving a I (superior) rating will be going on to State at Columbia on April 29. Kenny Youtsey received a I+ rating on his tuba solo. Other ensembles and solos that received I ratings were Erin Sweatman, Mariah Gibson, Allison Spidle, Kenny Youtsey, Andy Weldon, mixed brass quintet; Kenny Youtsey, Andy Weldon, Scott Wilkinson, tuba trio; and Andy Weldon, tuba solo. The band as a whole received a II rating.
