COUNTY COMMISSION

Following are approved minutes of March 27. All members were present.

The commission discussed the planned parking lot improvements. The satellite dish is to be removed by the Extension Council by April 15. The road and bridge department will make the grading and surfacing improvements when time permits.

Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting that bridge number 4364001.5 is now open for traffic. Work will now be concentrated on culvert repair and replacement. Also, that they had reported vandalism of the crane and track hoe to the Sheriff’s office.

Paul Smith, Colfax Township, reported culvert problems in that township.

Tom Houghton, sheriff, filed his certificate of training.

A petition to close a road in Grand River Township was read for the first time. The sheriff was given copies to post in three places and to serve on the landowners.

The commissioners contacted the Caldwell and DeKalb County commissioners regarding the pending regional jail legislation. Passed in the Senate, it is now in the House.

Rayburn Tolen, Jackson Township, met with the commission reporting problems on township roads.

Dana Urton, Daviess County Health Office Administrator, met with the commission regarding the condition of the building housing their office.

Tom Everly, assessor, met with the commission concerning his office.

Bob Burnett, Missouri Department of Transportation, contacted the clerk’s office reporting that BRO-031(18) is approved for the preconstruction hearing. He has notified the engineering firm to set the date.

In the afternoon, the commission inspected roads in Marion Township.
