Shonna Morrison and incumbent Norma Griffin emerged as election day winners from the crowded ballot of candidates for Gallatin board of aldermen. A school bond issue at Winston received the necessary 4/7ths majority for passage, and a host of other ballot choices were defined during voting concluded last night across the county.

The field of candidates for two Gallatin aldermen posts was the largest in many years. Both Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Griffin were clear winners by wide margins. A special meeting of the Gallatin board of aldermen is scheduled when these women officially take office.

Passage of the Winston $225,000 school bond means new construction at that school. An addition will be added to the northwest corner of the existing building to accommodate a biology lab and classroom, shop and small engine repair, and elementary computer lab and bathrooms.

Voters approved the proposal on the first ballot offering by a 61.5% margin, 4% more than the 57% required majority.

Larry Tull was the clear winner for chairman of the 911 Central Dispatch Service. Tull carried every precinct except Lock Springs and McClary to nearly double the count for each of the other three candidates. The voter choice for Misse Tolen over Jim Stitt to represent District 1 on the 911 board was closer, with Tolen winning by a 42-vote margin. Larry Belshe was easily the winner for District 2 on the 911 board.
