COUNTY COMMISSION
Following are approved minutes of March 13. All members were present.
David Tolen and David Holcomb reported having attended a Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC) meeting in Albany on March 9.
Daniel Lynn, bridge supervisor, and James Lewis, foreman, met with the commission reporting on progress of the bridge construction project in Union Township. Also, they were en route to inspect the old river bridge near Lock Springs.
At 9 a.m., as advertised, bids for a sheriff’s office vehicle were inspected. David Tolen moved to accept the bid from Red X Motors, Cameron, Mo., of $18,785. Tom Houghton, sheriff, will order the lights, siren and scanner. These items fall under the statutory limits for bidding and will not be advertised. David Holcomb seconded. Carried.
Alan Fender, Jamesport, met with the commission with LEPC questions.
At 10 a.m., as advertised, sealed bids for CART Program road rock were opened. David Holcomb moved that Limpus Quarries be awarded the bids for 1 1/4″ at $6.85 per ton and rip rap at $7.70 and Trager Quarries be awarded the bids for chips at $8.35 and 2″ rock at $8.35 per ton. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.
At 10:30 a.m., as advertised, bids for lumber and culvert materials were opened. David Holcomb moved to accept the bid of Metal Culverts, Inc., on corrugated metal pipe and riveted aluminized pipe. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Carried.
Katrina Johnson, representing Harrington & Cortelyou, engineers for the bridge replacement project (18) spanning Honey Creek, and Bob Burnett, Missouri Department of Transportation, met with the commissioners and prospective bidders at the 1:30 p.m. opening of the bids.
John Willits and Bill Mastin, Jefferson Township, met with the commission reporting the resignation of Mr. Mastin from the township board and the recommendation to appoint Judy Hiley to fill the vacancy. Danny Heldenbrand moved to accept the recommendation. David Holcomb seconded. Carried.
The commission inspected roads in Jackson and Jamesport townships in the afternoon. Following this inspection, one road was deemed closed by abandonment.
The commission discussed the continuing problem of an employee placing personal trash in the courthouse dumpster.
