This doll’s not for play, but to “Think It Over”

A doll donated by the Gallatin Social/Service Club is being used as a tool in the fight against substance abuse. The doll simulates a drug-affected baby and is called “Baby Think It Over.” As you can see, the doll is smaller than a normal newborn. Her cry is shrill, and she shakes when she cries. The intent is not only to focus on the symptoms that drug use can have on a baby born to a parent who uses drugs, but also to deter students from becoming parents at a young age. This is the second doll used in the classroom at Gallatin R-5, purchased last December by the service club. Shown, kneeling from left to right, Pam Walker, Sherry Golden, Anita Malo, Louise Bird.
