Gallatin R-5 junior varsity basketball squads recently completed very successful seasons, as their records indicate. The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs finished 12-5 with highlights of a 2nd place finish in the Lathrop JV Tournament and a 5-game winning streak at season’s end. The Bulldogs posted a 13-5 record with a 1st place finish in the Gallatin JV Tournament and 2nd place finish at the Lathrop Tournament.

Eight girls made up the heart of this year’s junior varsity team, with 4 others splitting time between varsity and jayvee squads. Roxi Davitt averaged 12.6 points per game in the 6 games she competed in. Kamille and Kayli Burrell averaged 8 and 6 points, respectively, while also playing a limited jayvee schedule. Other scoring leaders were Jamie Burnett, 6.1 ppg, and Brook Carder, 5.1 ppg.

Other junior varsity scorers were: Kim Clevenger 4.7, Kari Dickinson 3.0, Laura McCann 2.3, Amanda Bohannon 2.1, Jamie Lunsford 1.5, Jessica King 0.5, and Jacklyn Albrecht 0.4.

Nine boys played most of the junior varsity season with 3 others participating in a limited number of contests. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring were Brice Garnett, 17 points per game; Jake Humphrey, 11.3 ppg, and Zach Osgood, 9.8 ppg. Joey Evans averaged 18 ppg in only 2 games. Rebound leaders included Osgood (5.5), Garnett (4.6), Scott Wilkinson (4.4) and Zach Strange (4.1).

Other junior varsity scoring averages included: Matt Swofford (5 games) 10.2, Wilkinson 6.5, Strange 5.1, Nathan Henderson (one game) 4.0, Ryan Thompson 3.4, Wilson Tolen 2.5, Joe Smith 0.1, and Robert Mazur 0.0.
