Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs headed into this week’s district action on a positive note following a 50-37 victory over Lathrop last Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 18-7 overall.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 14-6 1st quarter lead behind scoring from 6 different players. Two-pointers by Courtney Houghton and Allison Spidle and a 3-pointer by Erin Sweatman helped Gallatin establish a 7-2 lead. Rebecca Stith added a pair of technical foul free throws following an LHS substitution violation. Roxi Davitt nailed a trey ahead of the 1st quarter buzzer to give Gallatin a 5-point cushion.

Despite getting some good looks at the basket, the Lady Mules struggled with only 8 points on the scoreboard until the 2:30 mark of the 2nd quarter. Sweatman added another trey for the Lady Bulldogs. Stith connected from just in front of the 3-point arc. Kayli Burrell banked in a trey with 6 seconds left before intermission to put Gallatin comfortably in front, 29-12.

The Lady Bulldogs built a 21-point lead in the 3rd quarter but Lathrop whittled it down to 9 with 3;48 left in the game. Houghton proved unshakable at the foul line, hitting 5 of 6 attempts in the bonus. Roxi dished off to sister Rochelle Davitt for a late layup. Roxi rolled down the baseline for a layup and Houghton added a pair of free throws to boost Gallatin’s lead to 48-31 before a late LHS run.

Roxi Davitt led a balanced GHS attack with 10 points. Rochelle added 8, Houghton finished with 7 and Sweatman and Spidle each totaled 6.

The Lady Mules connected on only 4 of 21 field goal attempts in the 1st half and 8 of 28 in the 2nd half. Wanda Medlock, a 6-0 forward, led the way with 15 points. The Lady Bulldogs held high-scoring forward Jessica Palan scoreless in the final quarter after totaling only 6 points the rest of the game.
