City Administrator Jason Helton and the Gallatin Board of Aldermen discussed the development of a hook-up incentive program for the natural gas system during their regular meeting held Feb. 28, 2000, at City Hall. A number of options were presented and discussed. Following more evaluation, the program is planned to start in March.
Mr. Helton gave an update on the Business Park project. The construction and testing are now complete with only clean-up and site restoration remaining to be done.
A brief update on the re-financing of outstanding certificate or participation was presented to the board. A memorandum from Piper Jaffray was presented, outlining options for consideration.
Year to date revenue and expense reports were presented to the board for review.
Chief Wycoff introduced Mark Richards to the board. Officer Richards has been hired as a full-time officer with the department and will serve as the department’s D.A.R.E. officer. Chief Wycoff also introduced Greg McCollough who has been hired as a reserve officer for the city.
Chief Wycoff presented the department’s mission statement to the board and asked for any comments. He outlined and discussed a number of goals and activities planned for the department.
Mayor Davis stated that it was his feeling that the city and property owners should begin to improve community pride by cleaning up abandoned and neglected properties. The appearance of the city makes an impression for residents and visitors.
Alderman Barnes inquired about the junk vehicle/nuisance ordinance. Chief Wycoff will follow-up.
Alderman Griffin stated that she had been contacted by a resident regarding the city’s utility disconnection policy. The issue has since been resolved.
Alderman Snidow reviewed the year to date revenue and expense reports.
The mayor stated that the board would not be returning to open session following the closed session.
Tim Andrew discussed a number of topics with the board.
Bills in the amount of $86,663.43 were approved for payment.
