DARE Lock-In, sponsored by the Gilman City Police Department, will be held from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at the Jamesport elementary school. About 40 DARE students from Gilman City, Coffey and Jamesport will be attending.

The event will feature a live DJ from Kansas City, a dance and a talent show. The students may participate in basketball and volley ball games, twister, an obstacle course race, and lots of other games. Movies will be running continuously.

Prizes have been donated from local merchants, including a CD player to raffle, a five-inch portable TV, cameras, a model rocket kit, Walkman’s, puppets, CDs and T-shirts. Refreshments will be served and plenty of food will be available, along with a 15 foot sub sandwich.

Local law enforcement officers, paramedics and first responders will be assisting throughout the event. Officers Arlo Jurrens and Darren Price will be on hand.
