Gladys (Pogue) Siever, 83, Jamesport, died Feb. 19, 2000, at Hedrick Medical Center.
Funeral services for Gladys Siever were held Feb. 23, at Jamesport Baptist Church with arrangements by Bram Funeral Home, Jamesport. Burial was at Prairie Valley Cemetery, southwest of Jamesport on Rt. V. Contributions may be made to Prairie Valley Cemetery Association or to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Gladys (Pogue) Siever, 83, Jamesport, died Feb. 19, 2000, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Mrs. Siever was born and raised at St. Charles, Ark., and attended school there. She had been a resident of Jamesport for over 60 years.
Mrs. Siever, a homemaker, worked as an aide and midwife to Dr. Forrest Bailey in Jamesport for nearly 30 years. The Seivers also farmed a J.C. Penney farm west of Jamesport for a number of years before moving into Jamesport.
Mrs. Siever was a member of the Jamesport Baptist Church, where she was active in missionary outreach programs and Sunday School. She was a charter member of the Jamesport Memorial Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post #4131.
In 1932, she married Virgil Scroggins in St. Charles, Ark. They later divorced. On Sept. 27, 1937, she married Fred Siever at St. Charles. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1994.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Wilbert R. on Jan. 12, 1999; two brothers, Carl and Marvin Pogue; one sister, Elsie Griffie; four half-brothers, Alvie, Fred, Jessie and Edward Shadwick; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include two daughters, R. Marie Neff of Gilman City, and Freda Ann Garner of Jamesport; four bothers, James Pogue of Fort Wayne, Ind., John Pogue of St. Charles, Ark., Wilbert Pogue of Stuttgart, Ark., and Charles Pogue of Kalamazoo, Mich; three sisters, MaeBelle Bailey and Evelyn Robinson, both of Jamesport, and Dolly McClaskey of Stuttgart, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
