Funeral services for Elles Nickell, a former resident of Daviess County, were held Sunday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel in Sedalia. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests constitutions to the First Christian Church of Sedalia.
Elles G. “Bud” Nickell, 70, Sedalia, died Feb. 17, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Nickell was born in Daviess County. He graduated from Jameson High School in 1947.
Mr. Nickell owned and operated Nickell Oil Company until 1962 when he sold the business and became a bulk plant manager for MFA Oil Company. In 1962 he and his wife moved to their “Triple D Farm” near Jameson where they operated the farm as well as a Pioneer Seed dealership until 1977, when they moved to Sedalia. In Sedalia, Mr. Nickell managed the MFA Feed Warehouse until it closed in 1982.
Mr. Nickell was a member of the First Christian Church of Sedalia, a charter member of the Jameson Lions Club, and a former member of the Sedalia Lions Club.
On Dec. 24, 1950, he married Veda Rae McCulley. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Dennis and Dan of Sedalia and Doug of Springfield; a sister, Marcella A. Zumbrunnen, Raytown; two brothers, Marvin of Hamilton, and Kenneth of Easton; and three grandchildren.
