Charles F. Belshe, Jr., 73, of Gallatin, died Feb. 19, 2000 at Liberty Hospitl, Liberty, Mo.
Charles F. Belshe, Jr., age 73, of Gallatin, died Saturday, February 19, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO.
Mr. Belshe was born May 10, 1926, in Marshall, MO. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1943 and the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO in 1948. He had resided in Maryville, Hamilton and Bethany prior to moving to Gallatin in 1960.
Mr. Belshe was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy serving on the U.S.S. Alabama and the U.S.S. South Dakota.
On April 16, 1948, Mr. Belshe was united in holy matrimony with Miss Peggy I. Page at the Christian Church in Columbia, MO. She survives of the home.
Mr. Belshe was Senior Vice-President and Loan Officer of the First National Bank of Gallatin, a County Agent for the University of Missouri in Daviess, Caldwell and Harrison counties and a devoted farmer.
Mr. Belshe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin, serving as elder and also started the First Presbyterian Easter Breakfast and continued this for 35 years. He was a member of the Frank Frazier Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2172 of Gallatin, the Gallatin Lions Club, the Missouri Banking Association, the Gallatin School Board, the Governors Agricultural Advisors Committee Board, the American Red Cross, served on the Lake Viking Committee and served as an officer for Gallatin Industrial Development Board.
Mr. Belshe was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Hettie M. (Richardson) Belshe; a brother, Wilbur R. Belshe; and a sister, Helen Belshe.
Survivors also include two sons, Larry M. Belshe and Steven R. Belshe of Gallatin; a daughter, Jacqueline K. Williams of Sinton, TX; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 22, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. at Hope-Eldringhoff Funeral Home, Gallatin. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin, with military rites under the auspices of Frank Frazier Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2172, Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles F.
