The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced the application period for Environmental Quality Incentives Program
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced the application period for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to run from Feb. 22 through March 24.
EQIP provides financial and technical assistance for producers and farm owners interested in protecting and improving the natural resources on their land. Financial assistance is provided through five to ten year contracts. EQIP is a popular and competitive program. The program is designed to accept only those applications that provide the most conservation for the least amount of federal funds.
Roger Hansen, NRCS State Conservationist, reported, “Farmers should contact their local USDA office as soon as possible to apply for EQIP. Although the application period runs through March, producers and landowners should get an early start developing conservation plans to address their natural resource problems and interest.”
For more information contact the local NRCS office in Daviess County at 209 Ash Street in Gallatin or call 660-663-3703, Ext. 3.
