Mark Richards, 30, was sworn in Friday, Jan. 28, as full-time police officer for the City of Gallatin. Officer Richards will also serve as the city’s DARE officer.

Officer Richards graduated from high school at Pflugerville, Texas, northeast of Austin. He received law enforcement certification through the University of Missouri-Columbia. He worked as a deputy and DARE officer at Macon County and for the cities of Sturgeon, Clark and Higbee.

He and his wife, Cassandra, currently reside in Sturgeon, north of Columbia, but will relocate to Gallatin as soon as they can find suitable housing. Cassandra works at MU in accounts receiving. They have a daughter, Alex, 8, and a son, Christopher James (C.J.), almost 2.
