Employers, seize this opportunity to recognize valuable employees age 55 or older. Missouri’s 10th Outstanding Older Worker Contest is now underway.

The Missouri Senior Employment Coordination Committee (MSSECC), is a statewide committee that helps promote the hiring of older workers. We are in search of Missouri’s most Outstanding Older Worker.

This contest is held to recognize the unique contributions an older worker brings to the work force and to encourage employers to hire the older worker. The contest rules are:

Nominees must be age 55 or older, gainfully employed at a Missouri job site, and a Missouri resident. The employer must complete a nomination form with attached narrative that includes:

(1) employee’s contributions to the company

(2) additional/new skills learned since employee’s beginning employment with the company

(3) description of the nominee’s other community involvement.

Narrative must be postmarked by Feb. 29, 2000.

Northwest Missouri’s top three selections will be locally recognized: the #1 selection will compete statewide. Recognition events will be scheduled in April for Missouri’s overall statewide winner. Activities include an expense paid trip to Jefferson City, a tour of the State Capitol, and meet with elected officials.

If you have questions or would like entry forms for the contest, contact Fae Lewis, Green Thumb 215 East Second, Cameron, 64689, phone/fax (816) 632-3349.
