A memorial graveside service for Walter Wheeler, a native of Gallatin, were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the Brown Cemetery in Gallatin. Arrangements were under the direction of Bram Funeral Home, Maysville.
Walter Irwin Wheeler, 97, Maysville, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at a hospital in Cameron.
Mr. Wheeler was born in Gallatin. He had been a resident of Maysville for 1 ½ years, living previously in Altamont for 20 years and Gallatin before that.
Mr. Wheeler was an auto mechanic for the Tate Motor Company in Gallatin and was a truck mechanic for the Cooper Transport Co. retiring in 1967.
Mr. Wheeler was a member of the Gallatin First Baptist Church and the Central States Mechanics Union of Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Amanda Caldwell Wheeler in 1973; one sister, Verna May Wheeler; twin sons, Leo E. and Cleo I. Wheeler; and one grandson, Cleo Randall Wheeler.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Flanders and Wilma Grace Brown, both of Maysville; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
