Funeral services for Maxine Taraba, a former resident of Gallatin, were held Tuesday at Ridgeway United Methodist Church with arrangements by Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Burial was at Ridgeway Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Ridgeway United Methodist Church or Harrison County Historical or Genealogical Society in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, 64424.

Maxine (Carnagey) Taraba, 79, Bethany, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at a Bethany hospital.

Mrs. Taraba was born southwest of Eagleville. She attended schools in Mount Moriah, Blythedale and Gallatin, and graduated from Ridgeway High School.

Mrs. Taraba was a secretary at Ridgeway High School and had worked for Turkey Hatcheries, Bethany, and Hallmark Cards, Kansas City. She was a homemaker and full-time business partner in farming with her husband.

Mrs. Taraba was a member of the Harrison County Historical Society, Harrison County Genealogical Society and the Missouri State genealogical and historical societies. She was a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 22, 1945, she married Gilbert C. Taraba. He died in 1990.

Survivors include a son, John, of the home; two daughters, Jerriann Bernard and Carolyn Nibble, both of Bethany; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
