Harry Esquire Hardin, age 48 of St. Joseph, formerly of Gallatin, died Saturday, January 1, 2000, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Harry was born October 3, 1951, in Wurzburg, Germany. He attended and graduated from the Gallatin High School in 1969 and also attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. He lived most of his life in the St. Joseph and Gallatin areas.

Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gallatin joining on May 6, 1962.

On April 17, 1986, Harry was united in holy matrimony with Sandra Welch Van Belkum in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home.

Harry served as president of Insurtec, Inc., Rich Hill, Missouri. He also worked for Quaker Oats in St. Joseph, as the commodity purchasing manager.

Harry was an organ donor. He was a wonderful man who was full of life and will be missed by friends and family dearly.

Harry was also preceded in death by his father, Cleo Franklin “Frank” Hardin.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Hardin of Gallatin; five sons, Joshua Esquire Hardin of Rockville, Md., Leslie James Van Belkum III of Rapid City, S.D., and Michael Dale Van Belkum, Brian Douglas Van Belkum and Jacob Dean Hardin, all of the home;; a brother, Larry Hardin of Slater, MO; and a sister, Linda Sehrt of Independence, MO.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gallatin. Burial will be in the Civil Bend Christian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 201 S. Market St., Gallatin, MO, 64640. Hope-Eldringhoff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
