Gallatin Chapter of DAR met Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at the A.T. Ray Home with 12 members present. The National Defense report was given by Ann Schweizer. Betty Huffman gave the Constitution Moments. After the regular business meeting Lucille Bruce gave a program on “The Woman Who Saved Mount Vernon.” On Dec. 14 the DAR helped celebrate Washington’s 200th anniversary by ringing bells and flying flags at half mast. Hostesses were Majiel Gibbar and Betty Rane. Refreshments were served. DAR will meet Jan. 12 at Nancy Terry’s.

Chapter BQ, P.E.O. Sisterhood met at the home of Shirley Weldon with Rachel Bradford as co-hostess on Dec. 11. Fourteen members enjoyed a brunch before the business meeting. The program was on memories of past Christmases. Our next meeting is at the Daviess County Library on Jan. 8, 2000, with Marilyn Hemry and Sheryl Warren as hostesses.
