Kerri Baker, GHS sophomore, has been named this year’s winner of the VFW Voice of Democracy speech contest.
Kerri Baker, sophomore, is the school winner in the Voice of Democracy contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2172 at Gallatin. Winning second and third place were Rachel Fisher and Casey Griffin, Juniors.
The results were reported by Darlene Patton, the contest chairman. The voice of Democracy is an annual broadcast script-writing contest in which students write a speech on patriotic theme and record the speech for judging. This year’s theme was “America’s Role in the Next Century.”
Kerri’s speech has been entered in district competition. The winners will read their speeches at the VFW’s annual banquet to be held in March 2000.
