Thirty-three fifth grade students at Searcy R-5 Elementary recently celebrated Children’s Book Week through a variety of activities scheduled between reading sessions held throughout one night. These six students won books as prizes in charade contests describing book titles. They are, front from left, Brett Wilkinson, Jonathan Arnold, Nic Burrell; back — Zach Bradley, Brandon Meseberg and Amy Hudlemeyer. Students were also led in poetry readings by Bonnie Painter and story telling through songs by Mike Arnold. A number of parents served snacks at 10 p.m. and breakfast at the conclusion of the event the following morning. Those parents spending the night assisting fifth grade teachers Sherry Golden, Lena Ishmael and librarian Sue Gillilan and principal Martin Sweatman were Eric Corwin, Denise Youtsey, Anita Malo, Karen Guffey, Krissy Hogan and GHS alumnus Kim Sweatman.
