At their Nov. 17 regular meeting, the Winston School Board reviewed the audit report and accepted it for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1999.
High School Principal Wendell Burns reported an enrollment of 70 for grades 7-12, with 93% attendance for the preceding month. He also reported that at the high school level, 57% of parents participated in parent-teacher conferences. Mr. Burns presented revised curricula to be adopted, which it was.
Lisa Bielby, elementary principal, reported preschool enrollment of 10 and K-6 enrollment of 111, with 95% attendance for the preceding month. She reported 97% of parents participated in the parent-teacher conferences.
The board adopted a district-wide evaluation plan by which all programs of the district will be evaluated at least once annually.
Missouri School Board Association policy updates were presented at this meeting and will be considered at the December meeting.
Architect Michael Teagarden of St. Joseph was employed to work with the district on the music room and handicapped accessible restrooms project.
The filing dates for election of members to the board of education were set from Dec. 21, 1999, to Jan. 18, 2000. Two board positions and one unexpired term are to be filled.
Board members present at the Nov. 17 meeting were Hope Becerra. Chretta Mastin, Bob Clark, Gary Caldwell, Wayne Uthe, Roger Barker, and Clyde Edwards.
The next regular board meeting is Wednesday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m., in the school cafeteria.
