Funeral services for Velma Wilson were held Nov. 9 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home in Kansas City. Burial was at the Floral Hills Cemetery.
Velma Daisy (Day) Wilson, 97, Independence, died Nov. 6, 1999, at Independence Health Care Center.
Mrs. Wilson was born and raised in Jameson. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Jameson, Rebekah Lodge of Carthage, Cross Roads Quilting Club and the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8824, Pattonsburg.
On Nov. 13, 1919, she married Clarence E. Webb. They were divorced. She later married Robert Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Wardie, Roy, Ross and Guy Day; two sisters, Mildred and Bernice Markham; one daughter, Loreda Phillips; and a grandson, Robert Scott.
Survivors include one daughter, Eunice Scott, Lee’s Summit; a sister, Doris Teel, Pattonsburg; one brother, Jack Markham, St. Joseph; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
