Congresswoman Pat Danner, (D) Kansas City, has announced plans to run for reelection to the House of Representatives.

Danner, who served as Federal Chairman of the Ozarks Regional Commission (a sub-cabinet position) in the Carter Administration, was later elected to the Missouri Senate, where she served 10 years. She entered the race for the 6th District House of Representatives in 1992. In the August primary, she defeated six other Democrats to become the party’s nominee. She went on to defeat the incumbent Congressman in November of that year.

In each subsequent election, she has increased her percentage over her opponent. She won the general election with a resounding 71% of the total vote in 1998.
