The Winston School board met in regular session and, among business, Bob Clark was sworn-in. Clark replaces Rock Youngs who earlier resigned the post.
The Winston School Board met in regular session Oct. 20 in the school library. Board members present were Roger Barker, Hope Becerra, Bob Clark, Wayne Uthe, Gary Caldwell, Clyde Edwards, and Chretta Mastin.
Bob Clark was sworn in as a new board member replacing Rock Youngs, who recently resigned.
The district employed Sherra Schuck as a bus driver replacing Lynn Martindale, who resigned.
Piper Jaffray was selected as the bonding company for the proposed construction of the music room and handicap-accessible restrooms.
Lisa Bielby, elementary principal, reported enrollment of 111 in grades K-6 with a 97% attendance rate for the previous month and preschool enrollment of 11.
High school principal Wendell Burns reported 7-12 enrollment of 71 with a 96% attendance rate for the previous month. He also updated the board on MSIP (Missouri School Improvement Program) issues, reviewing the annual performance report and discussing what is necessary to more fully prepare for next year’s MSIP review.
The calendar of events was reviewed, taking special note that parent-teacher conferences would be held on Monday, Oct. 25, from 3-7 p.m.
The board selected META (Mayhew Environmental Training Associates) to do the 3-year asbestos reinspection.
Board members were given copies of the annual audit reports to be reviewed at the November 17 regular board meeting, 7 p.m., in the school cafeteria.
