Following a recent meeting in Jefferson City, the Executive Director of the Missouri Development Finance Board indicated his agreement toward making a favorable recommendation regarding the MDFB’s assistance in refinancing the city’s outstanding certificates of participation. A preliminary expression of intent is expected at the Sept. 28 MDFB meeting, with a formal resolution expected at the board’s November meeting.

In other business at the Sept. 27 meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen, City Administrator Jason Helton led discussion on various options relating to the natural gas purchase contract for the upcoming year. Two marketing companies have expressed interest in supplying the city with natural gas. The City will pursue negotiation with Engage Energy for the purchase of natural gas for the year beginning Nov. 1, 1999.

During new business, the proposal from Frost Insurance Ageny/Missouri Rural Services Corp. was accepted in the amount of $27,969 for insurance coverages for the next year.

Discussions continue to take place between the engineer and contractor on the Business Park entrance project.

Superintendent of Utilities Roger Loxterman updated the board on a number of utility-related topics.

During comments by aldermen, Mr. Barnes stated his concern with the operation of the police department.

Alderman Snidow inquired about the current month’s number of utility disconnects for non- payment. Mr. Snidow reviewed the year-to-date revenues and expenditures. The year-to-date revenues are a bit behind projections and expenditures are generally in line with the budget.

Special guest Donna Jurrens stated the amount of police coverage is inadequate with the current number of officers.

Bills in the amount of $37,465.77 were approved for payment.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Alderman will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, due to the Oct. 11 holiday.

The board went into executive session at 6:50 p.m. and adjourned at 7 p.m.
