The captain and staff from Troop H of the Missouri Highway Patrol will be holding a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Gallatin R-5 High School. According to Trooper Lyons, the meeting will allow members of Troop H to meet with the local teenagers in an informal setting.

The troopers will field questions from the public on a variety of topics related to the patrol and its mission. Troop H hopes as well to generate ideas from local citizens on how the highway patrol might better serve the area, which includes the counties of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Caldwell, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston and Mercer.

A 20-minute slide show will be presented covering the history of the patrol, which was created in 1931 as simply a highway patrolling force and has evolved to a full-service, accredited law enforcement agency.
