A blood drive will be conducted in Gallatin blood from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Gallatin Methodist Church. Those who want to sign up are asked to call Judi Dowell at 663-3190.
One pint of blood can help as many as three local patients, even patients at hospitals. Community Blood Center must collect at least 480 pints of blood per day to meet the needs of our area. Sponsor of the local event is the Omicron Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Blood donors need to be at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds, and be in good health. They should bring identification. Community Blood Center staff will perform a mini- physical on each donor to ensure they are healthy. The check includes temperature, blood pressure, and hemoglobin count.
The Community Blood Center also will perform cholesterol testing on each donation and will mail the results to participating donors within four to six weeks.
