Sommer Lindsey Estes and Scott Matthew Wiley exchanged wedding vows at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the United Methodist Church in Gallatin. Parents of the bride and groom are Bill Estes of Gallatin, Kim Hudson of Jamesport, and Mike and Mitzie Wiley of Gallatin. Grandparents of the bride are Beverley Cox of Gallatin, George and Elaine Hudson of Preston, and Louetta Blackburn of Jamesport. Grandparents of the groom are Roy and Jean Rinehart of Hamilton and Doris Wiley-Plummer of Maryville.

The Rev. David Fitzmaurice officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Ann Schweizer and Sue Bird played piano and organ selections as prelude music. While grandparents and parents were ushered into the sanctuary, Sheryl and Susan Warren sang the marriage hymn “When Love Is Found.” They also sang “The Prayer” before the exchange of vows and “From This Moment On” during the lighting of the Unity Candle.

The setting sun shone through the stained glass windows, setting the perfect mood for the candle light ceremony. White lights, tulle, rose garlands, and ivy were used for decorations. The candelabra framed the alter which was covered with Battenburg lace. The piano and organ had Battenburg doilies and crystal candle bowls. Pew marking candles were decorated with sheer white bows and ivy.

The entrance of the bride was announced by the sound of seven wedding chimes. The traditional “Wedding March” was played as the bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a floor-length white organza gown with sweep train designed and made by her mother. The dress featured short sleeves and a chiffon overlay with lace appliques embellished with small rhinestones. The scoop neckline was trimmed in satin edging and featured rose appliques. The bride wore a hair comb with Austrian crystals with an elbow-length tulle veil edged with satin ribbon. She carried a silk cascading bouquet of white curl-tipped roses, white and mauve rosebuds, stephanotis, lily of the valley, and trailing ivy with white sheer ribbon.

Amy Sullenger, Gallatin, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Faythe Estes, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore floor-length sapphire blue organza gowns with scoop necklines which were made by the mother of the bride. Both wore simple necklaces and baby’s breath in their hair. They carried small bouquets similar to the bride’s with trailing ivy and sapphire blue ribbon.

Chris Lasher, Gallatin, friend of the groom, served as best man. Robert Wiley, brother of the groom, was groomsman. Ushers were Zac Johnson and Lee Rogers, both of Gallatin, friends of the couple. The men wore black tuxedos with black vests and bow ties. The groom wore a white vest and bow tie. Each wore a white rosebud boutonniere.

Flower girls were Kelsey and Kourtney Bird, cousins of the bride. The girls wore white knee- length dresses and hair garlands of miniature roses and baby’s breath. They carried whitewashed baskets of rose petals. Ring bearer was Vince Wiley, brother of the groom. He wore a tuxedo identical to the groom’s with a rosebud boutonniere. He carried a white satin ring pillow.

Lynette Reed, friend of the couple, attended the guest book, gift table and video camera. Macie Spicer, friend of the couple, also assisted with videotaping the ceremony. Kate Dowell and Joanna Hemry, friends of the couple, served cake and punch at the reception. Jennifer Burke, friend of the couple, designed and printed the wedding programs. Flower bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages were designed and made by the bride.

A reception and dance were held at Lake Viking Clubhouse following the ceremony. Marcia Bird, Marjorie Blackburn, and Deborah Robinson, aunts of the bride, arranged the food while Gary Robinson and Clint Bird, uncles of the bride, organized the drinks. The wedding party and many friends and family helped to decorate the clubhouse for the dance.

The tables had white tablecloths with bridal blush rose candle rings and vanilla candles as centerpieces. The doorways were decorated with white lights, rose garlands, and tulle. Pink hydrangea and sheer ribbon decorated wreaths that hung on the walls and above the fireplace. White lights outlined the ceiling of the clubhouse.

The couple’s wedding cake was arranged around a small table fountain, tinted mauve. It featured white, chocolate, strawberry, and cheesecake layers. Fresh flowers embellished the bridal lace frosting. Crystal candelabra, lent by the bride’s great-aunt, Jody Harris, also adorned the cake table.
