Navy Seaman Carol S. Anthony, daughter of Hazel M. Hasting of Gallatin, is currently halfway through a six-month deployment aboard the amphibious assault ship and Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) flagship USS Kearsarge, home ported in Norfolk, Va.
Anthony is currently operating in the Aegean Sea supporting Operation Joint Guardian where Anthony and fellow crew members are engaging in humanitarian operations, improving roads and supporting refugee camps in Albania.
In addition, Marines from the 26th MEU recently conducted an amphibious landing off the USS Kearsarge, into Litohoro, Greece, to deliver the first of American troops in support of a NATO/U.N. peacekeeping force in Kosovo.
The 1996 graduate of Maysville High School joined the Navy in February 1998.
