Funeral services for Roy Venable, a native of Gallatin, were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 18) at Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Roy Willis Venable, 89, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mr. Venable was born in Gallatin. He lived most of his life in St. Joseph.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Venable retired as a contract painter after 70 years of work.
In 1927, he married Rebecca McMurry in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Venable was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Stewart; a brother, Lester; and a sister, Cleatis Emery.
Survivors include a son, Gale, Sun City, Calif.; two daughters, Paddy Kennedy, Savannah, and Rebecca Silvey, St. Joseph; a sister, Katherine Cockran, St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
