Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Roney, mother of Carolyn Lewis of Gallatin, was held Saturday, Aug.14, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. Burial was at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville. Legion of Mary rosary and parish prayer service were held Friday at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Memorials may be made to the St. Gregory’s School Fund.

Mary Elizabeth (Heitman) Roney, 98, Maryville, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at a health-care center in Maryville.

Mrs. Roney, a homemaker, was born in and was a lifelong resident of Maryville. She had been a resident of a health-care center in Maryville for seven years.

She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, where she was active in St. Gregory’s Guild.

In 1924, she married Oliver V. Roney in Maryville. He is deceased.

Mrs. Roney was also preceded in death by a son, Bill; four brothers, Joseph, Leo, Raymond and Ben Heitman; two sisters, Clara Heitman and Gertrude Jasen; a grandchild; and a great- grandchild.

Survivors include two other daughters, Ellouise Decker and Nancy Moser, both of Maryville; two sisters, Ann Yehle, Kirkwood, and Lorena Roseberry, Savannah; 14 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
