Wendy Holcomb R.N., Winston R-6 School Nurse, completed the School Nurse Achievement Program, a study coarse through Sinclair School of Nursing, University of Missouri-Columbia, Nursing Outreach and Distance Education, and University of Colorado Health Science Center School of Nursing.
The program updated school nurses’ knowledge and skills in the care of preschool and school- age children and youth with special health needs, disabilities and students who require specialized nursing care. It assisted in preparing the school nurse as part of the team in developing the health component and related services of the IEP. She will be able to assist students with multiple disabilities and special health needs where the student can achieve as normal a lifestyle as possible and obtain an inclusive education in the least restrictive environment.
