Construction on the Pattonsburg R-2 vocational-agriculture building is underway. The 60 x 120 foot building will include the Vo-Ag classroom, shop, ITV classroom and bus barn. The frame and rafters are up and the metal covering is scheduled to be put on this week. The school is acting as its own general contractor by hiring individuals to do the construction and providing the materials. The project is expected to take another four weeks.
Construction on the Pattonsburg First Baptist Church began about five weeks ago. The church is located at the intersection of Hwy. C and 69. The foundation concrete has been poured and the rest of the floor is scheduled to be done Thursday. Brown Lumber is contracted to do the building. The project is funded by individual donations. The congregation presently is using the church building located at the old town site.
Construction on the replacement bridge over the Grand River on Route 69, located 1.6 miles south of Route Z, continues. The project involves bridge J-146R, south of Pattonsburg. The replacement bridge will be a concrete structure with a barrier curve, 616.5 feet long. The project began in March of 1998 and has run a little behind schedule. It is scheduled to be finished at the beginning of September. The average daily traffic on the bridge was 800 in 1995 and is projected to be 950 by the year 2015. The project is right at cost at $1,337,298.80. Workers are scheduled to make a bridge deck pour with half the deck to be poured by next week.
