Former Gallatin High School band director James Litsch died Aug. 4, in Liberty, Mo.
Funeral services for James Litsch, a former band director at Gallatin, were held Saturday at Swanson-Price Funeral Home, Hopkins. Burial was at Hopkins Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North Nodaway Music Department of the North Nodaway School, PO Box 260, Hopkins, 64461.
James “Jim” Daryl Litsch, 58, Liberty, formerly of Maryville, died Aug. 4, 1999, at Liberty Hospital.
Mr. Litsch was born in Clarinda, Iowa. He was a graduate of Mount Clemens, Mich., high school and Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in music education. He earned a master’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. He had resided in the Liberty area for 27 years.
Mr. Litsch had been a band director at Gallatin, Center and Liberty for more than 25 years. He was also a brass instructor at Northwest Missouri State University music camps in Maryville for many years.
Mr. Litsch was a member of the Methodist faith, Missouri Band Masters Association and American Radio Amateur League.
Survivors include an aunt and uncle, Beverly and Charles Turner, Eufaula, Okla.; an aunt, Genevieve Pendergraft, New Market, Iowa; and cousins.
