Funeral services for John Jay Wilson, father of John Wilson Jr. of Pattonsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Mo. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation is after 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

John Jay Wilson, 93, St. Joseph, formerly of Oregon, died July 26, 1999, at a hospital in Kansas City.

Mr. Wilson was born in Mound City and graduated from the New Point high school. He lived in Mound City and Oregon before moving to St. Joseph.

Mr. Wilson was a self-employed carpenter and painter. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Three Angels Church in St. Joseph.

In 1931, he married Lena E. Pullen. She died in 1984.

Mr. Wilson was also preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Charles, Owen and Ernest; and six sisters, Ona Lawrence, Anna Wilson, Daisy Springer, Retha Herman and Helen and Maude Wilson.

Other survivors include two other sons, Larry and David, both of Kansas City; five sisters, Shirley Higby of Peoria, Ill., Nancy Suppenbach of Kansas City, Linda Williamson of Overland Park, Kan., Judy Hall of Raytown, and Clara Burton of St. Joseph; a niece, Angela Stanley of Kansas City, reared in the home; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
