Pattonsburg Christian
Opening thought was “Take time out for God.” Dr. Ben Awbrey’s sermon was “Living as a Spiritually Wise Person” from James 3:15-18. The lovely flower arrangements were from the Jim Schimelfenig service.

Pianist was Mary Linda Warren. Candle lighters were Kathryn Everly and Breanne Brammer. Hymn of praise was “To God Be the Glory.” Children’s moment was on “The dictionary is only a guide to learn but not teach. The Bible teaches us what we need to know about life and the power to change us.”
Scripture lesson was on Hebrews 4:12-13. Hymn of preparation was “He Touched Me.” Rev. Fitzmaurice’s message was “God’s Glorious Word.” Happy anniversary to Tim and Julie Morris. Pastor David will be gone the week of the 28th to church camp at the Wilderness Campground.
VBS is July 26-30 for ages four through sixth grade. Prayer concerns are for Patty Adkison, Vaughn Walters, Helen Whitt, Sue Chadwick, and John Wood Jr.’s father-in-law. Closing hymn was “Blessed Assurance.”
Gallatin First Baptist
Morning worship began with the adult choir singing “Mighty is Our God.” The children’s message was “God’s Eyes are Everywhere” by Bro. Allen and Miss Alice. The adult choir sang the ministry of praise, “America Again,” with narrations done by Eric Kloepping and Stan Ray.
The morning message was by Bro. Allen, “Humpty Dumpty and You,” from Genesis 3.
During evening family worship, Philip Arnold played a selection on the piano. After a short business meeting, there was a time of sharing and prayer requests, Bro. Allen brought the message, “Four Things Every Christian Needs to Grow.”
Doug and Angel Michael and five of our youth, along with a larger number from the North Grand River Association, are away this week on a mission trip. Remember to pray for them and their ministry there.
Pattonsburg First Baptist
Sunday School attendance was 72. Happy birthday to Mary Ann Teel and Roger Barker. Roger and Cindy Barker are celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary. The Pledge of Allegiance was given before Bro. Ron’s message from Psalm 33:12. Volunteers are needed to mow the church lawn. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule.
Prayer concerns are for Steve Mayberry, Glen Stitt, Ralph Salmon, Charlene Morris, Jane Salmon, Cody Ratliff and Norma Crone. Our sympathy is extended to the families of Jim Schimelenig and Shirley Yeamens. VBS is July 12-16. Keep these dates open.
Fairview Community Church
Betty McFee opened this morning’s services by leading songs of praise and prayer. John Stith read today’s Scripture from Matthew 11:25-30, prayer followed. Sunday School concluded at Joshua 23:16. Joshua nears the end of his leadership.
Today’s message was “Repent,” from Matthew 4:17. The youth had a pizza dinner, attended the baptism of Erin Ward at the First Baptist Church in Winston and had a roller skating party at Lakeview. This evening we studied verses pertaining to “Redemption: Man’s Response.”
Special prayers are for Nina Pittsenbarger, George and Belle McFee, Vern Bridgman, Tiffany Bridgeman, Wayne Willits, Gaylen Bridgeman, Merlin Wright, Marie Riley, Gene and Ellen Burnam, and Lucinda Dolan’s mother.
Pattonsburg Charge UMC
Valerie’s sermon was “Honey in the Lion,” Judges 14 and II Corinthians 12:7-10. Pattonsburg will have a church meeting at 7 p.m. on July 14 at the church. Remember in prayer Glen Stitt, Doug Bratner, and the new ministers in our churches.
Jameson First Baptist
Rev. Jean Osborn’s morning message was “The Five Languages of Love,” from I Corinthians 13. Missionary birthdays were given by Cody and Crystal Cook. Amber Hackett and Hannah Gryder reported on the mission trip to Hollister. Offering bearers were Mike and Travis Bohannon.
Total offering for VBS was $41.78 from the girls and $34.76 from the boys, which was sent to the Co-operative Program. Prayer needs: James Osborn, Coleman Franks, Marge Smith, Susie Chadwick, LaVerne Drummond, Frances Brewer, Betty Barlow, Elsie Hall, Virginia Johnson, Rosemary Bear, Chrystal Mosseau, Patty Adkison, Howard Bailey and Harry Rice.
Altamont United Methodist
Twenty-one were present for worship services on the fifth Sunday after Pentecost. Candle lighters were Andy Minnis and Cody Walton. The mission moment was by Anita Malo. Pastor Marilyn’s children’s time was “It’s Nice to Have a Dad that Cares About You.” Offering bearers were J.B. Wilson and Charles Allen.
The gospel reading was from Matthew 10:40-42, “Give Even a Cup of Cold Water to a Little Child and You Will Surely be Rewarded.” Andy Minnis and Amy Anthuis gave camp reports. Challice Freeman sent a nice thank you to the congregation for her Bible. We were happy to have Aundrea Egbert of Ohio visiting us.
Happy anniversary to Chris and Bertie Stith on July 2. Bo Malo sang the special, “Gonna Trust in Jesus.” Prayer concerns were for Juanita Uthe and Georgianna Morris who broke her leg and is in Cameron Community Hospital. Our sympathy to the Ruth Daley family.
Lake Viking Church
The morning prayer and devotions for the Wednesday ladies Bible study was by Charlene VanBecelaere. Betty Cooksey led the lesson on “Building the Tabernacle: More than Enough to do the Job,” from Exodus 35. Betty closed in prayer. Wednesday evening classes were canceled. Prelude by Cynthia Hillman, organ, and Buddy Myers, violin, was “Heavenly Sunlight.” Call to worship was by Ruth Bailey.
The choir sang “Turn Your Radio On,” directed by Karla Worthington. Offertory prayer was by Henry Ford. Rev. Hillman’s youth message was “Jeremiah, Prophet to the King.” Ministry of music was a vocal solo by Susan MacEachern, “Scarlet Ribbon.” Rev. Hillman’s message was “A Penny for Your Thoughts,” from Proverbs 23:7. Benediction was by Jack Humphrey.
Happy birthday to Inez Hillman. Prayer requests are for: Steve Keeler, Jack Dowell, Gayla Satterwhite, Jared Barker, Amber Perry, Ruby Clark, Bandell Rorebeck, Jamie Hampton, Inez Hillman, JoAnn Myers and John Lutter. The following are doing better: Joyce Becerra, Bill Goldsberry, Kate Feiden and Pearl Palmer.
Gallatin First Christian
Marty and Debbie Sweatman were the hosts with greeters Herb Whitt and Chuck Culver. Sue Bird and Ann Schweizer were organist and pianist. Erin Sweatman was the candle lighter. Vicki Rains gave the children’s moment. Pastor Smith’s scripture was from Luke and John, with his message being “I Just Don’t Understand.”
Elders for the day were Sandy Evans and Lucille Bruce, with Kathy Frost in charge of the nursery. Sunday evening the New Generation Singers were at Fellowship Hall for a concert. Prayer concerns were for Jack Dowell and Vaughn Walters, who are home now.
Norma Reynolds and Ina Naylor will be 95 on Tuesday. Next Sunday an all church breakfast and Sunday School will be at Fellowship Hall. Pastor Smith will be on vacation and Junior Stith will be preaching.
First Assembly of God
Sunday our adult Sunday School class studied from Revelation 6:1-7:17. “End Time Conditions” was the lesson. Golden text was from Luke 21:28. We were glad to have Mr. and Mrs. Bennett back with us after a few days vacation. Cheryl Garlick led us in our worship song, “Room At the Cross for You.” Happy birthday to Paul Pratt.
Prayer request: Louise Curtis’ brothers, friends of Mr. and Mrs. Lents in Springfield and Elizabeth Moore. We had special songs from the Toney family and Mary Lou Bennett. Pastor Bennett’s message was “If You Drink the Water Jesus Can Give You, You’ll Never Thirst Again,” John 4:10-14. Sunday night was our fourth Sunday sing and share.
Olive Baptist
Attendance for worship was 21. Lesa Leeper has been promoting VBS during children’s sermon time. VBS will be July 12-16. Sarah Ishmael sang, “Blessed Jesus, He’s the One,” accompanied by Mary Tague for special music. Bro. David Leeper’s message was from John 12:37-43.
