The Gallatin Board of Aldermen discussed Monday night the possibility of applying for a CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) for infrastructure improvements at the Gallatin Area Business Park.
The application for CDBG funding for infrastructure improvements at the Gallatin Area Business Park was discussed by the Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting on June 28 at City Hall. A public hearing will be held at 1 p.m. on June 30. A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen will be held at noon on July 1 to consider the formal resolutions following the public hearing.
In other business, Ann Hawkins presented an outline of her plans to develop a youth center in Gallatin. Ms. Hawkins anticipates the research, planning, and preparation to last another 12-18 months with a formal opening at that time. She can be contacted at 512 W. Mill St. for additional information.
City Administrator Jason Helton reported that the mid-year revenues and expenditures are generally in line with the budget and within expectations.
The Director of the American Disabilities Act Project from Columbia visited Gallatin recently at Mr. Helton’s request. The city will be conducting a self-evaluation and seeking input toward developing an ADA transition plan in the upcoming months.
The board heard discussion of the resurfacing of Highway 13 through town by MoDOT. The possibility of improving the angle parking areas along Highway 13 at the same time will be explored.
During new business, annual city liquor licenses were issued for Casey’s, John’s Amoco Food Shop and McLey’s Corner Store. A motion carried to issue an annual city liquor license for Glennie’s Bar and Grill contingent on state issuance of a liquor license and to provide a letter of intent to issue the same for CC’s Package Store.
R. Scott Stephens, CPA, was hired as city auditor for 1999.
During comments by aldermen, Norma Griffin stated that a citizen discussed drainage problems on North Market Street with her.
Alderman Larry Barnes questioned the amount of security that is provided during the night-time hours.
Bills in the amount of $37,455.02 were approved for payment.
The board went into executive session at 8:15 p.m. and adjourned at 9 p.m.
