Funeral services for Wayne Edwards were held May 4, at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. The body was cremated. Inurment of the ashes will be held later at the Willis Chapel Cemetery, north of Brimson.

Wayne Edwards, 54, Lake Viking near Gallatin, died May 2, 1999, at North Kansas City Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Edwards was born in Liberty. He moved to Lake Viking in 1998.

Mr. Edwards served in the Coast Guard from 1962-1966.

After leaving the Coast Guard, he returned to the Kansas City area and attended Kansas City Community College. Mr. Edwards was employed in the banking industry while he lived in California and in the Kansas City area. He also managed area restaurants and worked at Trenton at the Crown Restaurant, in Illinois and in Texas at Pittsburg and Mt. Pleasant.

In 1985 he married Sharon Kay Wynne in Gladstone. She survives of the home.

Mr Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Dola Mae Horton.

Other survivors include a son, Kenneth of Springfield, Ill.; a daughter, Susan Edwards of Overland Park, Kan.; a stepson, Tim Walsh of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Norman of Centerview and Donnie of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Wanda Jean Ruth of Hermitage, Theresa Edwards and Donna Taylor, both of Gladstone, Charlene Crouthamel of Kansas City and Beverly Gregory of Liberty.
